NOW that’s a brilliant turn-up for the books as summer sadly wanes; Spiers & Boden, the folk duo of John and Jon who announced they were splitting up back in 2014, have made an unexpected return; and they’re performing tonight, August 31st, as part of the ‘Folk on Foot’ all-day celebrations.
The pair said: “Well, it’s been a while… about six-and-a-half years by our reckoning, but we’re back at last and incredibly excited to get back to it.
“You can watch our first performance together since 2014 tonight on the Folk On Foot Festival #3 livestream. We’re on at 7.45pm.
“We’re going to be working on some new material and we’re planning to hit the road again in 2021, so follow us on Twitter, like our Facebook page, and watch this space.”
The Folk on Foot Festival, which runs from 2pm today British Summer Time, will also feature streamed performances from the cream of the current folk scene, including longtime Spiers & Boden collaborator Eliza Carthy; Karine Polwart, Kris Drever, Peggy Seeger and many more.
