Manchester risers The Rolling People return with a defining statement of intent in their new EP Outlier. Marking a clear step forward in both sound and identity, the six-track project captures a band in the midst of reinvention. It is sharper, more expansive, and increasingly self-assured.
The release also arrives alongside a new brand partnership with fashion label Pretty Green, signalling a wider cultural push as the band’s profile continues to rise beyond the music circuit.
Produced by Richard McNamara, best known as guitarist of Embrace and for his production work with artists including Basht. and EEVAH, Outlier finds The Rolling People refining the raw urgency that first defined their ascent. Across its six tracks, the band lean into a more rock-driven, anthemic palette, pairing widescreen dynamics with a renewed sense of clarity and scale.
From the punchy, propulsive force of opener ‘State Of Things’ and the driving intensity of ‘Your Take’, to the more expansive emotional weight of ‘Soldered Souls’, the EP presents a band operating with greater range and intent. Thick layers of guitar and commanding percussion are balanced with melodic restraint, suggesting a project built for both intimate reflection and large-scale impact.
“Outlier is our most expansive work yet, addressing meanings and narratives that we previously haven’t explored,” the band explain. “We utilised sounds that pushed our creativity forward, working with our producer, Rick McNamara, who really encouraged us to get the best out of each track. The EP is a deeply introspective account of the struggles and emotional challenges that we each face in life. Each song on the EP represents a different emotion that people may think is a vulnerability; however, they are actually normal, with everyone going through them at some point in their lives. The themes span across love, loss, intrusive thoughts, fear and more, which are all relatable to the audience’s own experiences in their life.”
Already tipped by Northern Exposure Magazine as “Manchester’s next greatest success”, The Rolling People have built momentum through consistent live performance and growing critical attention from tastemakers. In 2024, just three years into their career, they marked a milestone by headlining Manchester’s O2 Ritz, cementing their reputation as hometown favourites with ambitions clearly set far beyond the city.
Touring alongside Andrew Cushin and supporting The K’s has further sharpened their live edge, while festival appearances including The Great Escape have helped establish them as part of a new wave of British guitar music pushing toward larger stages.
With Outlier, The Rolling People do not just consolidate that trajectory, they widen it.
