News & Track: Tamara & The Dreams Is Back and Sweeter Than Ever with ‘Successful Bisexual’ + Single Launch

Tamara & The Dreams made a spectacular return last month with ‘Successful Bisexual’ – their first new release since 2022, and a hell of a comeback. It’s a certified banger: sharp and sugary. A song that makes you feel like your most chaotic self might also be your best.

Tamara will headline Merri Creek Tavern on May 17 to launch the frenetic, confessional indie-pop track, with glam-rock outfit Pollyman on support. Fittingly, ‘Successful Bisexual’ was born in a voice memo while backpacking through the Greek Islands. That’s the kind of detail that makes perfect sense the moment you hear the track: it’s sunburned and restless, earnest and impulsive. There’s a deep current of emotional truth running through it – about identity, desire, and the slow, messy process of figuring yourself out – but it’s wrapped in a hook so massive it practically demands you scream-sing it on a summer day with the windows down.

“I love being part of the music community in Melbourne/Naarm. It’s given me a place to belong and lifelong friends, and it has allowed me to fly and be myself. I’m so grateful for my bandmates and everyone else who makes up the community of dreams around my songs cause there’s no Tamara without them. I’ve met so many amazing people in bandrooms and smokers’ areas, and I hope I never stop.“, she says.

With ‘Successful Bisexual’, there’s a new clarity in Tamara’s voice, a kind of triumphant exhaustion, like she’s just lived through something and came out louder. The guitars jangle. The chorus hits like a shot of cold Cherry Cola to the brain. And suddenly, you’re nineteen again – spiralling and euphoric.
