Premiere: Alex Frenkel announces new album as Caicos and shares lead single ‘A Spade A Spade’

Formerly the vocalist for New York band Gospels, Alex Frenkel has since moved on to making music as Caicos. Last we heard from him, Frenkel released the Past Perfect EP in autumn of 2020, but he’s been at work on a new project, the first fruits of which we’re delighted to share with you today.

‘A Spade A Spade’ is busy and vibrant, the lead single from an album written, performed and recorded by Frenkel in his home studio at the height of the pandemic, with virtual contributions from friends and collaborators, not the least of which is Iojii, who gets the sole feature credit on the 8-song record. It’s a song about finding tranquility in accepting today’s reality, even if it’s not what you expected. It also includes an excellent sax solo.

Ascension Intention is out on Friday September 15th via #veryjazzed, and we’re #veryjazzed to premiere ‘A Spade A Spade’. Tune in below.
