Premiere: Paul Murphy announces new album as POSTDATA, shares ‘Mine the Sea’

Also known as the voice of excellent Canadian outfit Wintersleep, it would be fair to say Paul Murphy likes to keep busy. His main band last released In the Land Of in 2019, a year after his second album as POSTDATA, Let’s Be Wilderness. Twin Flames arrived in early 2021, and today he’s announcing his fourth.

It’s called Run Wild, and its lead single is the irresistibly bouncy ‘Mine the Sea’. Per Murphy, the song ‘is the idea of digging deeper into yourself to find who you are and where you want to go. [It’s] about the search…but also about letting go of habitual ways and allowing yourself to be being open to possibility.”

We’re premiering the single, accompanied by an excellent Griffin O’Toole-directed video, who says: “Creating this video with Paul was a blast. When Paul approached me with this song I was so excited to get creative with the visuals. Inspired by Radiohead’s video for ‘House of Cards,’ I wanted to pay homage to something that was so groundbreaking for its time, but still make it new and special.”

Run Wild is out on Friday September 22nd via Paper Bag Records.
