Premiere: Michael Scott Dawson releases new visuals for the beautiful ambient soundscape of Campestral

Canadian sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Michael Scott Dawson is building towards the release of his new album Music For Listening, out April 8th via We Are Busy Bodies. from it, he’s releasing the second single taken from it, Campestral, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.

Following conversations with his Grandmother, Dawson dug out recordings he’d msde years before, with natural sounds and birdsong, and this ended up being the basis of both his album, and Campestral. Around these natural sounds he uses loops, guitar figures and sounds that slowly bleed into eachother as this beautiful pastoral ambience soaks through everything.

The accompanying video sees a night in the life of a woman who baths, cant sleep, and ends up pole dancing in her house. its seems a dichotmy of sorts, the urban life in the visuals set against the nature filled soundscape, but it works beautifully.
