Ben Le Jeune, the enigmatic frontman of Creature Comforts, returns with his latest solo single, ‘Je suis le président’, set for release on March 7 via Missing Door. A raucous, no-holds-barred glam-punk stomper, the track is a thrilling blend of Iggy Pop’s raw energy, Bowie’s theatricality, and a nod to the foot-stomping bravado of T. Rex. The result? A song that demands to be played loud, fists in the air, and voices joining in for its anthemic “la la la” chorus.

The track, which marks Le Jeune’s first foray into French-language lyricism, is a razor-sharp critique of power and egotism, written against the backdrop of political peacocking from figures like Trump and Macron. As he explains:

“The title came first, it was at the time that men like Macron and Trump were showboating on the world stage. Then it was about developing the theme of egotism and power trip, that whole ‘look at me and my magnificence’ thing – Versailles, Mar-a-Lago, the hangover from Berlusconi’s ‘bunga bunga’ parties.”

Clocking in at under two minutes, ‘Je suis le président’ is a high-voltage jolt of swaggering rock’n’roll. The track bursts out of the gate with a driving beat, before twisting through Black Keys-style guitar licks and culminating in a sinister, authoritarian climax. As Le Jeune’s vocals shift from wry observation to commanding declaration, the final verse delivers a chilling punch:

“Ta faiblesse je casserai / A genoux, suivez-moi / Je suis le président”

(“Your weakness I will destroy / On your knees and follow me / I am the president.”)

The accompanying music video is a visual feast, with Le Jeune and a cast of characters decked out in vintage military and flamboyant New Romantic garb. Think Adam Ant meets Napoleon, with a touch of playfulness thrown in. The result is a spectacle as entertaining as it is just slightly unsettling—fitting for a track that skewers the grandiosity of power.

Following the single’s release, Le Jeune will take his electrifying new material on the road, including intimate shows at:

• March 7 – London, Dublin Castle

• May 16 – Manchester, The Eagle Inn
