Say Psych: Track Review: KICK – Sirens Never Sleep

‘Sirens Never Sleep’ is the new single by Italian duo KICK, out now via Anomic Records (Germany), Dischi Sotterranei (Italy) and Sour Grapes (United Kingdom), taken from the forthcoming album Light Figures due out in November.

Very active live, both in Italy and abroad, KICK are Chiara Amalia Bernardini (vocals, bass) and Nicola Mora (guitars, electric piano, synths, samplers). Their sound combines rough elements alongside more dreamy elements finding that “sweet noise”, a style of their own which blends noise with softness of the atmosphere, without any limits of genre.

‘Sirens Never Sleep’ from the first second has a bass hook so gripping it doesn’t let up, so much so this track can easily go on repeat. Its an intoxicating mix of post punk and no-wave that offers mystique and magic, with lyrics that swing in and out of understandability. Sirens, after all, were designed to get men lost, and this track does exactly that.
