SEE: 5 Billion in Diamonds – ‘Divine Accidents’: widescreen psych-rocker

BUTCH VIG needs no real introduction in the world of rock: Nevermind, Garbage, massive production values that define an era. But he’s been somewhat quiet in recent times.

That changed right this second with the latest single from his 5 Billion in Diamonds supergroup project, “Divine Accidents.”

It’s the title track from the outfit’s upcoming second LP, and features Viking rawk legend Ebbot Lundberg, of The Soundtrack of Our Lives on vocal duties.

“Divine Accidents” takes that Butch Vig way with the clarity and rawk space, and guides it off into a more paisley and incense psych direction, driven on a 12-string riff. It’s all of 80 seconds long, too; an old-skool psychedelic pop slice that leaves you wanting more.

Butch is joined in the 5 Billion in Diamonds alliance once more by Bristol’s Andy Jenks and James Grillo; amongst collaborators announced for the album are James Bagshaw, from Kettering psychesters Temples.
