Against The Current have just released the music video for ‘Talk’, one of their most popular and discussed songs to date and yeah it’s pretty awesome. ‘Talk’ is a song that allows the band to rock out and give it their all but that’s only half the reason why it’s been so well received, the rest of it (and the more important factors) is that this song showcases why Against The Current have secured themselves as a band on the rise.
The key point: “Everybody knows you’re full of shit”
This is the first time ATC have sworn in one of their songs. I know this point may sound like a basic one but the truth of it is that it’s everything but. For a band to start using expletives in any form shows a growth of maturity in lyrical content and the expression of a personal truth through musicianship. Whatever experience it is that Chrissy is basing this on, whether it’s from an emotional point of view or a statement of fact, it fully represents the meanings behind the song and lands it on the audience in a way that’s entertaining and highly impactful in its performance.
It’s a song that delivers the punches through its riffs and rhythms and all of them give everything through every beat of every bar. It’s further proof that Chrissy is becoming one of the defining voices in the genre and that Will and Dan are two incredible musicians. Combine all of that and there’s little doubt that before you know it they’ll be everywhere.
Both lyrically and musically this will become one of the bands stand out songs (and it’s an awesome one to see performed live) as it allows them to express themselves without holding back and the result is one that you can’t argue with. It’s a catchy song with amazing riffs and chord progressions that really do highlight the level of passion and understanding that’s gone into the writing. Overall, if you weren’t a fan before you heard this, you will be now.
