How do you top a year of touring that was incredibly successful? Simple. You do it again in bigger venues. And that’s exactly what Against The Current are doing with their Gravity tour that covers Asia, Europe and North America. For those who saw them last year, you’ll know why Against The Current are a band worth seeing. They have a brilliant energy that easily put them as one of the top bands I saw perform live last year.

You can read my review of their UK show in Manchester (live review here), but to quickly sum up:

” Coming out onto the stage to thunderous cheer and applause, they opened with the title track of their debut EP ‘Infinity’ and instantly showed off what they can do live. Chrissy was moving around the entire stage at every available opportunity, jumping up and down, getting the crowd going and never once losing a single ounce of energy as she sang her heart out. Basically just imagine a more active version of the energiser bunny.

As for Will, his rhythms on the drums sound even better live, performed with a lot more energy and really showing how good of a drummer he is. Dan was able to show off a lot more of his ability too as well as balancing the important line between prioritising solo licks and chord progressions. They all had a great deal of presence as they performed making the live aspect come to life with a great deal of enthusiasm for their material. “

It was an easy choice to highlight Against The Current as my band of the year 2014 and I highly recommend seeing them live if you get the chance……which you have…..so go and see them. It’s as simple as that.

This latest cover highlights their incredible level of musicianship too:
