Track: Aubergine – Lonely Peak

A good thing done well is worth celebrating, and Aubergine‘s laid back instrumentals evoke a sense of place – smoky dimly lit caverns in the very early hours of the morning, cheroots and stripy t-shirts. It is certainly a change of pace, but a very satisfying expression by a group of highly talented musicians.

Aubergine have just released a single, ‘Lonely Peak’, that is elegant and smooth: a psych-infused slice of cool jazz which instantly triggers emotions and a sense of space.

Songwriter Oliver Hughes says of the piece:

To me, the song evokes imagery of an intense struggle, backdropped by beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful indeed. You can get the single here: another product of the increasingly diverse and high quality coterie of bands looked after by the iconic 4000 Records.

If you are in Brisbane then come along to The Bearded Lady on Sunday 16th February for the single launch. It’s a free show with Shugorei (amazing percussion and electronica duo) in support. Click this for more info.
