Sydney melodic hardcore outfit Bloom have announced their sophomore album, The Light We Chase, due October 31 via Pure Noise Records. The record confronts themes of fractured relationships, lost trust, and the pull between despair and hope, marking the band’s most personal release to date.
Fans get their first glimpse with new single “Withered”, a track that asks what it means for a life—or love—to be worth the cost. Produced by Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove, Void Of Vision, Thornhill), the album pushes Bloom further into experimental territory, with features from Jack Bergin (Void Of Vision), Mikaila Delgado (Yours Truly), and Patrick Miranda (Movements).
Following 2024’s debut Maybe In Another Life, Bloom wrote and recorded the album in a matter of weeks, leaning into urgency rather than over-planning. The result is a record that shifts between heavy catharsis and stripped-back reflection, from the nostalgia-laced Keep You to the acoustic tenderness of Tongue Tied.
Bloom will take Withered on the road this September for an Australian run with Inertia and Post Heaven, before heading to the UK/EU with Thornhill and Ocean Grove, and later joining Silverstein, Thursday and Free Throw in North America for the 25 Years of Noise tour.
