Listening to Brisbane’s Full Power Happy Hour is like having pure sunshine poured into the ears: sonic rays of joy that sets the feet twitching and the face radiating joy.

There’s a rough hewn edge to ‘Siblings’ – a low-fi thrum that instills a carefree sense of joy and a sepia-coloured tone of nostalgia and yearning, replete with a gospel flavour. According to the band, the song delves into the unique intensity of close blood relationships looking at how you can choose your friends but never your family, for better or for worse.

The accompanying video by Marnie Vaughn and Nathan Kearney of Bare Pictures beautifully captures a sense of bucolic and nostalgic joy:

‘Siblings is out through the inestimable Coolin’ By Sound Records and available to download and stream here.
