On their new track Wolf, the first new music from Darkstar (aka Aiden Whalley and James Young) since 2015’s Foam Island, the pair say
“Wolf if is about something ominous catching you back up. Bills, the big bad wolf. Who knows? We wanted to have some fun with how brazen the lyrics are in comparison with how soulful the track is.”
Dark and slightly claustrophobic, Wolf has these wobbly, echoey electronics and synth sounds, their ethereal vocals tripping over the top and driven along by this basic, but insistent beat. It’s introspective and emotive, but it’s melancholc melodies make it easy to fall head over heels for.
