Track: Eilish Gilligan – Flesh

I’m in complete awe of those people who have managed to use the period of COVID isolation to up their game in terms of creativity and output, and Eilish Gilligan, emerging from Melbourne’s serious second wave of lockdowns is a case in point. Not only has she been putting together fascinating Twitch events on a weekly basis – where she takes viewers through her creative processes, dissects her material live and muses on life in general – she has now released an epic single ‘Flesh’ where she did everything – playing the instruments, mixing the results, mastering – the lot.

And the result is glorious. A velvet soundscape that highlights Gilligans epic vocals and her ear for melody with gliding, glitching instrumentals and a mesmerising atmosphere:

This follows her release of ‘I Just Want to Look At You’ reviewed by me at the beginning of the year. An EP is on the cards too: 2020 is certainly beginning to end on a high note.
