Ohio’s most prolific indie rockers, Guided By Voices, have teased their 32nd album, ‘Styles We Paid For’, with a punchy new song called ‘Mr. Child’. A statement from the band explains that the song is about a Peter Pan-style figure who refuses to grow up. It showcases the playing skills of bassist Mark Shue and guitarists Doug Gillard and Bobby Bare, Jr. more than anything on the band’s last two albums. Check it out below.
Impressively, ‘Styles We Paid For’ is Guided By Voices’ third album this year and sixth within the last two years, with the five individual members recording their contributions separately in five different states. Once complete, they were mixed by producer Travis Harrison. The album is released on December 11th but is available to pre-order now.
