Super Burner’s latest single “Pick Your Own” is a swaggering declaration of intent, a chunky, muscular slice of what can only be described as “new glam”, which I may or may not just have made up. Mixing driving grooves with shards of noisy guitar and a relentless attitude, the track channels the stomping power of glam rock with a raw, garage-rock edge.

The band’s North East England roots shine through in their no-nonsense, heads-down approach to dance-inflected rock. With production, samples and more by Anthony Chapman (of Collapsed Lung and production credits for McLusky and Future of the Left), and the band including luminaries such as Duncan Lovatt – previously of Ten Benson, and Ross Forster and Phillip Dorset who previously turned out for Apache Viking, the sound is tight, punchy, and unapologetically in your face.

Super Burner manages to blend the gritty appeal of ZZ Top’s swagger with a modern twist, while firmly driving their own lane in the process. If this single is any indication, their debut album Pick Your Own (out February 7) is set to be a noisy, riff-fueled joyride.

Turn it up and let it rip.
