Track: The Northern Belle feat. Siv Jakobsen and Louien – ‘No Rush’: Nordicana loveliness reminds us to take care

Stine Andreassen of Northern Belle

THE NORTHERN BELLE, the Norwegian alt.country collective led by Stine Andreassen who cites a love for Phoebe Bridgers, Khruangbin, Gillian Welch and Waxahatchee, amongst others, and who self-style as ‘Nordicana’, are back with a new song which focuses on taking care of each other, such a subject for these times; and Stine has enlisted the gorgeous talent of fellow fjord-side folkie Siv Jakobsen and also Live Miranda Solberg, who records as Louien, to send the song into the vocal stratosphere.

The song’s entitled “No Rush” and you can hear it below. It’s The Northern Belle’s first release since last year’s album, We Wither, We Bloom.

“It felt very important to share this song with someone I look up to [Siv Jakobsen] musically, especially after being isolated for so long. To be together about something, and to be able to comfort one another is essential”, says Stine.

It’s a laidback, chiming beauty that’s not only about lifting each other’s spirits, but goes about that business pretty damn well itself. It looks to a time, so soon now, when people “can smell spring again”.

It’s left to Siv to drape her fragile grace over the song’s paradigmatic line: “One is only as strong as all of us combined” – something we’e all come to realise this past year.

“No Rush” is out today from Die With Your Boots On Records and is available on all digital streaming platforms.
