Amsterdam five-piece The Klittens have announced their long-awaited debut album Have A Heart, set for release on September 25 via Cargo Records. Alongside the announcement, the band have unveiled the album’s title track, offering another glimpse into the off-kilter world they have spent the last few years constructing.
Following the release of their Citrus EP in 2022 and 2024’s Butter, Have A Heart finds the Dutch outfit expanding upon the distinctive blend of indie-pop, post-punk and DIY experimentation that has earned them praise from NME, DIY, Clashand So Young. Equal parts melodic and disquieting, the new material embraces contrasts, balancing bright hooks and harmonies with darker themes and a restless musical spirit.
Comprised of Yaël Dekker, Winnie Conradi, Katja Kahana, Marrit Meinema and Laurie Zantinge, The Klittens have built their reputation through a fiercely independent approach that extends from songwriting and releases to tour management and the organisation of their own annual festival, Klitfest. Their debut album continues that ethos, drawing influences from country, pop and post-punk while maintaining the unpredictable qualities that have become synonymous with the band.

New single “Have A Heart” encapsulates that approach. Beginning with an indie-rock swagger before taking unexpected turns, the track highlights the band’s willingness to disrupt their own melodies with bursts of noise and experimentation. It also reflects the wider themes running throughout the record, which explores feelings of helplessness, resistance and the many ways people navigate uncertainty.
Part of a thriving Dutch indie scene that includes Personal Trainer, Pip Blom, Lewsberg and Real Farmer, The Klittens have spent recent years touring extensively across Europe and the UK, sharing stages with Otoboke Beaver and BODEGA. Following the album’s release, the group will return to the road for a series of UK dates this autumn, including stops in Glasgow, Leeds and London.
