The ever thunderous Haters – now a trio since we last visited them – have just released their new single ‘Young Ones’ as they gird their loins for an appearance at the massive BIGSOUND Festival in Brisbane – an event that sees the movers and shakers of the Australian music industry meet to yarn, inform and listen to bands.

The single comes from their upcoming debut album ‘non-violent’, a fitting title given the degree of compassion and kindness the band threads through their musical onslaught.

Lead vocalist Jairay shares the personal inspiration behind ‘Young Ones’:

This song was born out of a profound loss and the realization that we must cherish the
moments of brightness in our lives. It’s a call to appreciate the innocence of
youth and to confront the consequences of our actions. Young Ones invites us to reflect on
the fragility of our existence and to embrace the joys while acknowledging the pains.

The thoughtful sentiments are express through Haters’ trademark sonic assault, a heady mixture of sweet and sour as the guitars buzz and cut like a chainsaw and the vocals are raw and passionate, even while carrying a pop melody.

‘Young Ones’ is available to download and stream here.

The forthcoming album ‘non-violent’ revolves around themes of mental health, love, loss, and the complexities of human emotions. It confronts these issues head-on, without glorification, aiming to create awareness and foster understanding.
