Album Review: Various Artists: C87

Its been 3o years since the release of the original C86 compilation a mail order cassette from the NME, which at the time was a must have and introduced the world of indie bands to many and created a new scene in British music. The long awaited follow up C87 is packed with a corking 74 tracks compiled by Neil Taylor.
Putting together such an array of music Taylor has managed to give us 3 CD`s of pleasure, some sought after tunes and a window back in time. Indeed many of the bands here went on to produce great catalogues and influence many of the 90`s and more recent bands we have today.
Early tracks from The Wonder Stuff, Wedding Present, Inspiral Carpets, BOB, and The Primitives are all present here, but there are a few real gems The Sea Urchins Pristine Christine and Miaow`s When it all Comes Down that along with other exclusive first time on CD tracks like Jamie Wednesday`s We Three Kings make this a must have set.
Theres` a vast array on offer here to many bands to mention, but like me if you were a Peel listener or hung around the indie clubs in the late 80`s you will of heard of most of the bands if not all of the respective songs..
Cherry Red reissued the C86 box set in 2014, and have followed it up with in my opinion an even better set, complete with booklet and sleeve notes if your missing your old tapes and grew up with the Indie Scene of 86/87 or 88 this is a must have release.

9/10
