There are tours that make perfect sense on paper, and then there are tours that feel too good to be true. If you grew up in the 2000s, then the Bowl My Bones Tour falls firmly into the latter category.
When Bowling For Soup, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls and American Hi-Fi hit the road together this summer, they’ll bring their different strands of alternative music history into one gloriously full-throttle package. Across five dates, including Yorkshire stops at Halifax’s Piece Hall on 30 June and Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 2 July, this is a line-up built on songs that have soundtracked countless road trips, heartbreaks, bad decisions and very good nights out.
Bowling For Soup remain one of pop-punk’s great survivors. Three decades into their career, Jaret Reddick and co still possess an enviable ability to turn every show into a massive celebration, powered by the enduring appeal of ‘1985’, ‘Girl All The Bad Guys Want’ and ‘High School Never Ends’. Nostalgia may draw people in, but it’s the infectious energy that keeps them coming back.
Alongside them, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls bring a different kind of connection. Turner’s journey from punk basements to arena stages has been fuelled by relentless touring and songs that balance defiance, vulnerability and hope. Few artists understand the relationship between performer and audience like Frank, whether that’s in the small gritty clubs or open air arenas.
Completing the bill are American Hi-Fi, returning to UK shores for the first time in more than a decade and celebrating their 25th anniversary in the process. Best known for the era-defining ‘Flavor Of The Weak’, the Boston outfit’s melodic, hook-laden catalogue remains a reminder of just how effortlessly they bridged pop sensibility and rock muscle.
American Hi-Fi frontman Stacy Jones said: “The UK holds a special place in our hearts. From legendary Reading and Leeds sets to our own massive headline nights, the fans here are world-class.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the Bowl My Bones Tour with our friends Bowling For Soup and Frank Turner, and so excited to mark our 25th anniversary.”
From Lincoln Castle to Cardiff Castle, with Yorkshire’s two spectacular outdoor dates sitting proudly in the middle, Bowl My Bones promises an evening where friendship, singalongs and alternative rock history collide in the best possible way.
