Droppin’ Knowledge: Gold Standard Collective Shares “Deli Slice” – Watch

Chicago based hip hop ensemble Gold Standard Collective shares a new video and single from their forth-coming compilation album, Deli Slice. The title cut finds veteran emcees, Thaione Davis, Neak, Philmore Greene, F.A.B.L.E., Since9ine6ix and Rashid Hadee, trading conscious bars over a pounding beat, in a style they call “true-school hip hop.”

According to the press release accompanying the single, “musically and aesthetically speaking, GSC provides a traditional rap feel; think Native Tongues (e.g. A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Queen Latifah), Wu-Tang Clan (e.g. Ghostface Killah, Method Man, RZA), etc.; yet, with a more progressive approach. The compilation features songs from all of the aforementioned artists as well as Thaione Davis, F.A.B.L.E. and the group NRFS; composed of Neak, Rashid Hadee, F.A.B.L.E., and Since9ineSix.”

The song is produced by Rashid Hadee; video directed by Cos G. and edited by Dave Galaxie. Deli Slice is out September 25th.
