Live Review + Photo Gallery: Dark Mofo Festival, Thundercat at The Odeon Theatre, 09.06.2023

US bass wizz, Stephen Bruner, better known as Thundercat, graced the stage at The Odeon Theatre here in Hobart as part of the marvellously diverse festival known as Dark Mofo, bringing an exciting and wildly eclectic mix of funk, R&B and acid jazz.

The crowd at the fully sold-out venue, were treated to some of the finest musicianship they are ever likely to witness, with Bruner and his trio amazing many of those who attended with the virtuosity of their performance. A 7-string bass, keyboards and drums were made to sound like a much larger ensemble than one would think that just the three would produce.

Thundercat came, he saw, and he conquered this crowd, many of whom would have little knowledge of his catalogue. However, for those ‘in the know’ this was a show of majestic proportions.
