Spector brought their #NowOrWhenever Tour to Birmingham on Thursday night to an eager Brummy crowd who have waited since November 2021 when the original gig was rescheduled due to the pandemic, then again the January date was pushed back to April 2022 but Spector were finally here and the enjoyment was shared both by the band and the vocal Mama Roux’s crowd.
Entering the stage waving a negative lateral flow test, lead singer Fred Macpherson announced their arrival by jumping straight into the band’s latest album “Now or Whenever” with “Catch You On The Way Back In” before slicing in classic tracks from the band’s other 3 albums.
Fred said the reason why he closes his eyes while singing new songs is that he doesn’t like to see crowds not being able to sing along, and I’m sure it won’t be long before the Spector faithful know all the words to the new album like they do the other albums!
The band never missed a beat throughout their strong 16 song set, even with the debut performance of their new single #Felony to a live crowd to test the waters, it went down a treat and the Birmingham crowd knew they’d witnessed something special.
The night ended on a high with Fred joining the crowd for Chevy Thunder before leaving the satisfied Birmingham crowd with ‘All The Sad Young Men’
