London’s band The Daybreakers deliver music that is infused with a rock ‘n’ roll thats tinged with blues and funk elements. Formed in 2019 by singer / songwriter / producer Aidan Connell, they are set to release their debut album ‘Get Through This & Live’ via all streaming services on 28th April 2023.

Give us a potted history of band

We formed the band late 2019 played some shows in Europe that I had leftover from my solo record … and then lockdown came so we had a great run of selling out venues , off the back of the solo deal that I had

Who inspired you to start making music

Doing awful jobs and being talented inspired Connor and I to pursue music there only so many burgers you can flip without getting bored.

And the one or maybe two records that inspired you artistically

Jeff Buckley – Grace

Sly & The family Stone / Fresh

This is because you’ve always gotta combine groove with melody and both of these records address this

If you’re trying to explain who you sound like to someone that’s never heard you, what do you say

We sound like a futuristic version of The Faces but with more groove,  maybe like a galvination of what Keith Richards wax trying to do with The New Barbarians – Keith Richards , Andy Newmark , Willie Weeks , Rod Stewart, Zigaboo Modeleste, Stanley Clarke, Ian Mclagan etc

With a bit more punk energy …

Tell us about your forthcoming single

The new single due shortly was recorded live on a nice desk in hackney we got a great singer Phoebe White to sing on the track then we got my mate Rex Roulette to tidy it up a bit.At present  The 1st record will be on cargo but that’s  a distribution company… probably a bigger operation with the next record

Where can we get hold of it

You can listen on Spotify or buy in it the shops from June in vinyl etc with a axing artwork from this Indonesian fellow Steven Yoyada of us pretending to be Thin Lizzy Instagram

Tell us how you write

I constantly write words then we generally jam musician ideas in the studio and I try to fit the word over or write and rewrite melodies

Tell us about your live show and what would be your dream gig

Our live show is the main thing probably up their with some bigger bands we often get more musicians a brass section etc onstage so it’s definitely something to witness

What can we expect from you in the near future

We’ve just toured Europe and The Czech Republic, we’ll be in the states in July and the. Back Europe in September, we’ve got some good dates coming in the uk in June also not far way at all

Tell us your favourite records that are rocking your headphones/tour bus / stereo

Favourite records and listening too

Robert Glasper – Black Radio III

Thundercat – Is what it Is

Thin Lizzy – jailbreak

Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced
