Acrylic share their atmospheric sound with summery new tune ‘Overrun’.

This indie-rock five-piece are all students currently residing in Glasgow’s west end. Their intricate sound has already caught the attention of Amazing Radio, BBC Scotland and XFM Scotland and 2016 began with them supporting The View on New Years Day.

New single ‘Overrun’ begins with a ticking beat from Ruairidh Smith on drums and a sparkling guitar riff before Lewis Doig’s bass reverberates through and gives the track some depth. The bass line continues to be a major feature throughout the song with such a stripped back feel. There are less soaring soundscapes than on previous single ‘Awake’, but they still retain their layered sound.

The vocals of Andreas Christodoulidis naturally come to the fore. The instruments seem to wrap around his voice, which has more than a hint of Bryan Ferry and David Bowie in its tone.

Despite the fast beat and fizzing drums, the song progresses into a laid back summer groove, with the additional vocal harmonies creating a wistful atmosphere.

So lay back, let the warmth radiating from this track envelop you, and tap your feet to Acrylic’s sound of summer.
