Track: Snowpoet – Waves

London folk collective Snowpoet are led by lyricist and vocalist Lauren Kinsella and Chris Hyson, backed up with Matthew Robinson, Nicholas Costley-White, Josh Arcoleo and Dave Hamblett. Ahead of the release of their forthcoming eponymous debut album, the band have released a little taster in the shape of a new single, Waves.

Although dealing with dificult subject matter – depression, and the feeling of not being able to leave your bed, and becoming trapped in past memories, its a magical and mesmerising song, with guitars ebbing and flowing over Kinsellas intoxicating mix of elfen like singing (remember Hanne Huckleberg?) speaking and even whispering, as the accompaniment is soaked in echo, wistful electronics and these drop dead gorgeous harmonies. Just when it seems that its just playing out, so this free jazz drumming tumbles over the back of everything.

And, breathe. Chek it out, here
