New Music: Street Joy – Laurel Hill

We’ve written about Los Angeles‘ Street Joy before, here. The duo, Jason DeMayo on lead vocal, guitar and bass, and Scott Zimmerman on drums and backing vocals, deal a winning hand in old time, feelgood Rock n Roll.

It has this whiff of nostalgia about it, the sort that brings to mind those sepia tinged memories of playing hazy evening football with your father, lego all over bedroom floors, and falling asleep with the cat (or is that just me), with these picked guitars, slappy sounding bass and shuffling drums.

There’s more than pastiche about it though; its good time lyrics and heart melting harmonies back up the sort of tune that harks back to, well, the golden age of rock and roll.

We need more Street Life in our lives. It makes me happy.
