The Anchoress AKA welsh singer-songwriter and multi-instramentalist Catherine Anne Davies has been biding her time. After a couple of singles released in 2014, she now releases her brand new track ‘Popular’. In an industry packed full of girls fighting to be noticed, it takes someone original the stand out. The Anchoress has all the characteristics that made us fall in love with the likes of Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Natasha Khan. She is quirky, cool, with a unique and instantly recognisable voice, and a great look. ‘Popular’ is a catchy slice of indie-pop that will be in your head for hours after listening.
It is taken from the album ‘Confessions Of A Romance Novelist,’ which is due to drop in January next year. It is co-produced by former Mansun frontman Paul Draper. As part of one of the most original bands of the nineties, his presence on the album can only guarantee that it will be one worth listening to.
