Track: The Districts – Chlorine, plus Summer festival dates

Coming off the back of a run of UK shows, which included a sold out date at London’s Scala, as well as a contender for an album of the year with the brilliant A Flourish and A Spoil, Philadelphia quartet The Districts return with a new single, Chlorine. Out on July 17th via Fat Possum, it comes ahead of the bands dates at Glastonbury, Latitude, and Reading & Leeds this Summer.

The band somehow have this knack of making you fall in love, almost instantaneously with what they’re doing. Starting of with these tension filled chords, there’s still enough melody (even with those) to tug immediately at your heartstrings. From there though, things are cleared out of the way for this understated vocal, but its not long before there’s an ebb and rather noisy flow about things. Soon, as it reaches the chorus, so the band deliver the melodic knock out punch.

Are The Districts the best band out there right now? I dunno, but it must be close.

Check the band out across the major European festivals this summer.
