Australia’s electronic calendar is about to receive a serious injection of international talent, with Bizarro unveiling the 2026 line-ups for Overtone, Freeform and Mode festivals. Taking place across the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney over one October weekend, the trio of events will bring together some of the most influential names in contemporary club music while continuing to showcase the strength of Australia’s own underground scene.
Leading the charge is Edinburgh-born producer Barry Can’t Swim, whose rise from breakout favourite to festival headliner has been one of dance music’s defining stories. Armed with the jazz-inflected grooves that propelled debut album When Will We Land? and its successor Loner, the producer arrives in Australia after standout appearances at Glastonbury, All Points East and Lost Village. Joining him atop the bills are UK garage trailblazer Interplanetary Criminal and techno pioneer Richie Hawtin, whose influence on electronic music stretches back more than three decades. Gold Coast festival Overtone will also feature Mall Grab as a headliner, underlining the strength of Australian talent on the global stage.
Beyond the marquee names, the three festivals are stacked with respected selectors and club culture figures including Avalon Emerson, Ben UFO, Call Super, D. Dan, Freddy K, GiGi FM, Ron Trent, Storm Mollison, SWIM, Memphis LK and Two Shell. Local artists such as Bella Claxton, Hasvat Informant, Mikalah Watego and Ned Bennett further reinforce the festivals’ commitment to connecting international heavyweights with homegrown talent.
While each event retains its own identity, the shared philosophy remains clear. Overtone channels rave culture at Musgrave Park on the Gold Coast, Freeform expands to four stages at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and Mode returns to Cockatoo Island in Sydney with its blend of music, visual art and forward-thinking design. Together, the three festivals promise to transform the Labour Day long weekend into one of the biggest celebrations of electronic music Australia has seen in years.
