Essex and London-based singer-songwriter George Bone has announced his debut EP, The Yes Man, while celebrating the release of his evocative new single, ‘Floating Away’, which is out now.
The single follows a landmark year for the rising artist, who was recently selected as one of BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire’s Ones To Watch for 2025. The new track offers another glimpse into Bone’s distinctive songwriting style, blending emotional honesty with a genre-spanning musical approach that has steadily earned him recognition across the UK.
An award-winning performer, Bone has established himself as one of the East of England’s most promising emerging talents. While his music is rooted in contemporary pop, it draws freely from neo-jazz, folk and singer-songwriter traditions, creating a sound that feels both modern and enduring. Influences ranging from Chris Stapleton and Dan + Shay to Bruno Major, Eloise and Conor Albert have helped shape a musical identity built around thoughtful storytelling and rich musicianship.
‘Floating Away’ begins with delicate fingerpicked guitar lines that evoke the intimacy of Sufjan Stevens’ work before gradually unfolding into a sweeping, cinematic arrangement. Bone’s expressive vocal performance remains at the centre of the track as layers of strings, piano and synth textures build towards a soaring chorus.
As the song progresses, the introduction of driving percussion adds momentum, while brass and orchestral flourishes broaden the sonic landscape. The result is a track that balances vulnerability and scale, culminating in an emotionally charged finale.
Speaking about the single, George explains:
“In bringing to life the ebb and flow – the push and the pull – of a relationship, myself and my producer Fionn Connolly implemented very clear Rubato phases at the end of phrases, especially towards the beginning of the song. It sounds great overall, and made us both feel high and mighty for doing classical music degrees, but was a PAIN to programme in!
The climax of the song is one of my favourite bits of the entire record. We asked ourselves ‘Which instruments should play the solo’ and we both answered back with, ‘Yes’.
This track is the Ying to The Wrong Person’s Yang. This is the rupturing of what is known to be true, and the impossible forceful grief becomes material, even in the most gentle of actions”
The forthcoming six-track EP, The Yes Man, is set to present Bone’s most ambitious and cohesive body of work to date. Exploring themes of personal growth, heartbreak and self-reflection, the project highlights an artist increasingly confident in both his songwriting and creative vision.
Reflecting on the EP, Bone adds:
“I recognise that I’ve diverged quite dramatically from my discography to date. But in making this record, I have been able to connect with my music and myself more than I ever had before. What started as cheap post-breakup therapy turned into a break-up collection with myself. And I have never been prouder for making it analogously and while paying musicians a fair wage in doing so.”
Known for his engaging live performances, Bone is equally comfortable fronting a full band or delivering intimate solo sets from behind the piano. His reputation on the live circuit has seen him share stages with notable names including UK The Voice winner Molly Hocking at sold-out venues in Camden and Islington, while also supporting Andrew Cushin following the latter’s international tour with Louis Tomlinson.
His festival appearances have taken him across the country, with performances at Wokingham Festival, Taste of London Festival and Essex’s Sounds Good Festival among the highlights.
Bone’s growing profile has also been strengthened by a longstanding relationship with the BBC. As a featured artist on the BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire platform, he has recorded live sessions at the legendary Maida Vale Studios and appeared seven times on Jodie Bryant’s New Music Monday stage at The Ned.
With more than 200,000 Spotify streams, continued support from BBC radio and international airplay across the United States and Switzerland, Bone’s momentum shows little sign of slowing. His accolades include Radio Wigwam’s Best Male Artist of the Year award in 2023 and recognition as a QH Sounds Rising Star. Alongside his music career, he also works as a social media presenter for Yamaha Music London and un.
With The Yes Man scheduled for release in late 2026 and a series of headline performances planned to accompany the launch, George Bone appears poised for the next stage of his artistic journey.
‘Floating Away’ is available now on all major streaming platforms.
