Joined the outpouring of grief and sadness at the news of Fall mainman Mark E Smith, his former wife and Fall member Brix Smith Start has issued a statement via her twitter account
Her band, Brix and the Extricated, featuring several ex-Fall employees – have also released a statement on their facebook page which reads “There is a unique collective history between members of Brix & The Extricated and Mark E. Smith. While we all worked together for different lengths of time in The Fall over the past 40 years, we travelled the world having both good and bad experiences for which we have no regrets.
In our own way we are all feeling not only the great loss to music but the personal loss of a man who affected our lives in many different ways.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Mark’s family at this difficult time.”
Needless to say, we join in with the sentiment of both statements. While we never knew Mark E Smith, lots of us here at Backseat Mafia saw them live on multiple occasions, and we’re pretty numbed by the news.
