Brighton’s ever-restless indie underground has a habit of throwing up bands that feel both chaotic and completely locked in, and Canned Pineapple are fast becoming one of its most compelling exports. After nearly a year out of the release cycle, the four-piece crash back into view with their electrifying new single ‘Little Things’, alongside news of a live session on Radio X set for May 2nd.
If you’ve caught them live over the past year, you’ll know this return has been brewing. The band’s reputation has been built the old-fashioned way: sweat-drenched gigs, tightly wound energy, and songs that stick just enough before veering off somewhere slightly strange. There’s a deliberate imbalance to their sound, a tightrope walk between tongue-in-cheek irreverence and something more emotionally direct, that has made them one of Brighton’s most talked-about new acts.
‘Little Things’ feels like a statement of intent. Produced by longtime collaborator Tom Rees, the track distills the band’s high-octane live presence into three minutes of gritty, fuzz-laden propulsion. Guitars snarl and shimmer in equal measure, driven forward by pounding drums and a bassline that refuses to sit still, while the vocal hooks land with an effortless immediacy.
There is a strong sense of lineage here, with echoes of 60s rock swagger filtered through a modern indie sleaze lens, but it never feels like pastiche. Instead, Canned Pineapple tap into something more instinctive. The track’s structure mirrors their live dynamism: an anthemic opening gives way to a reflective middle eight before surging back into a frantic, all-in finale that feels engineered for packed rooms and late-night chaos.
Speaking about the release, the band frame it as a turning point:
“After almost a year since their last release, Canned Pineapple return with more miles and hours under their belts. ‘Little Things’ is a cut and dry sign of what’s to come in their new era of scuzz. Recorded once again with guru, Tom Arthur Rees, the band hit a stride of conviction stronger than ever. Nothing is out of sight for Canned Pineapple in 2026, same rock, different roll.”
Fronted by Cork-born vocalist Seán Drury, whose charisma anchors the band’s restless energy, the lineup is rounded out by guitarists Oakley Gardiner and Gabe Rice, alongside drummer Charlie Pringle. Together, they have honed a sound that thrives on tension, polished enough to hook you in, rough enough to keep things unpredictable.
That unpredictability has served them well on the road. Appearances at festivals including The Great Escape, Truck, Wilderness, and New Colossus have steadily expanded their reach, while tours across the UK and Europe have helped build a loyal and growing fanbase. Radio support from Radio X and BBC Radio 6 Music has only amplified the buzz, with tastemaker press quick to follow.
Now, with ‘Little Things’, Canned Pineapple are not just picking up where they left off, they are pushing forward with sharper intent and bigger momentum.
