Indie dream-pop darlings, Daughter, are making a welcome return after 7 long years with the release of new album, Stereo Mind Game, due to be unveiled on the 7th of April.
The trio of Elena Tonra (vocals, guitar, bass), Igor Haefeli (guitars, bass, keyboards) and Remi Aguilella (drums, percussion) have released the glorious first single, Be On Your Way to herald in this highly anticipated return, with the band having taken a long, albeit amiable hiatus in 2018 following on from Tonra’s initial solo release as Ex:Re (pronounced “x ray”).
Be On Your Way is an exciting first glimpse into the new material that Stereo Mind Game will bring. Washes of strings bathe the song in an ethereal atmosphere, blending in perfectly with the band’s hypnotic, signature sounds, as Elena Tonra’s vocals draw you into this heartfelt, almost melancholic reflection of a relationship that is interrupted by the realities of distance, time and circumstances, yet pensively holds onto what the future may hold.
Stereo Mind Game will feature 12 songs, and for the first time will see Tonra joined on vocals on some of the tracks by Igor Haefeli, as well as Ex:Re collaborators, the London-based string orchestra, 12 Ensemble lending their immense talents throughout the album.
