News: Daya announces debut Australian headline tour and new album era

The US pop powerhouse, Daya has announced her debut Australian headline tour, returning this July and August for intimate shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The run arrives in support of long-awaited second album Til Every Petal Drops, a record that signals a deeper, darker and more exploratory chapter for the singer first launched into the spotlight by teenage breakout hit Hide Away.

Where earlier material traded in bright pop immediacy, Til Every Petal Drops pushes into more atmospheric territory. Electronic textures, soulful undercurrents and introspective writing suggest an artist less interested in replaying old formulas than in rebuilding them from scratch.

“I have a deeper sense of myself as an artist,” Daya says. “I’ve evolved so much and I’m exploring everything I can.”

That self-awareness matters. Daya’s career began at speed, with Hide Away going triple platinum and debut album Sit Still, Look Pretty quickly following. Then came the global juggernaut Don’t Let Me Down with The Chainsmokers, a Diamond-certified smash that also landed a Grammy.

Many artists would happily live off a résumé like that. Daya instead spent the next decade moving across scenes and sounds, collaborating with names including Dom Dolla, Gryffin, RL Grime, Illenium and Anyma.

Live, she has already ticked off rooms and festivals most artists dream about, from Coachella to Lollapalooza. Australia now gets a version of Daya shaped by growth rather than hype.

TOUR DATES
Tuesday 28 July – Rosemount Hotel, Perth (18+)
Thursday 30 July – Corner Hotel, Melbourne (18+)
Friday 31 July – Factory Theatre, Sydney (18+)
Saturday 1 August – The Triffid, Brisbane (18+)
