News: Ernesto Lune Returns With New Single ‘Not For Now’

Canadian-born, Barcelona-based multi-instrumentalist Ernesto Lune has returned with ‘Not For Now’, a track that pushes his dreamy bedroom pop tendencies into louder, bolder territory.

Opening with a swell of fuzzy strummed guitar, lo-fi electronic drums and a haze of synth, the tracks soon introduces the half sung, half spoken vocals. As comparable to Royel Otis as it is to early Strokes, the track is a surge of emotion disguised as an indie-pop anthem, capturing the tension between heartbreak and liberation, with Lune’s delicate vocal delivery grounding its whirlwind of sound in something deeply human.

Speaking about the song’s origins, Lune says, “I wrote this song after a very brief relationship ended suddenly. At first, I was feeling really sad. Then one day, I suddenly felt free from the pressure to make something work that was never meant to be. It was like the wind blew it away.”

Recorded and produced entirely in his Barcelona apartment, the single reflects the DIY spirit that has defined Lune’s sound since his 2021 debut EP, ‘some good air (in search of,)’. Where earlier releases shimmered with introspective warmth, ‘Not For Now’ is sharper, more daring, pointed and self-assured.
