Sophie Payten – better known as Gordi – is set to play a special one-night-only show at the Sydney Opera House Playhouse on Friday 17 October, marking the release of her third album, Like Plasticine.

Stream Like Plasticine HERE.

This is Gordi’s first full-band show in Sydney since Vivid LIVE 2022 and follows her 2020 livestreamed performance in an empty Opera House, a surreal moment that doubled as the global launch for Our Two Skins.

“Last time I launched an album in the Sydney Opera House – I played to no one. Well, no one physically in the room, just the whole internet in the middle of deep lockdowns in 2020. I am flooded with excitement to play my first full-band show in Sydney celebrating the release of my new record, Like Plasticine, at the Sydney Opera House in October. Come if you want to dance and cry at the same time.” – Gordi

On Like Plasticine, Gordi turns her dual life – as both doctor and musician – into a quiet epic of transformation. Written between shifts on the COVID-19 frontline and her own personal reckonings, the record explores coming out, endings, and beginnings. It’s a clear-eyed portrait of change, carried by Gordi’s ability to find honesty in nuance and strength in emotional messiness.

The new album also affirms Gordi’s standing as a versatile collaborator, with past credits including Bon Iver, Julien Baker, Troye Sivan, and Anaïs Mitchell. On stage, she brings that same generosity and precision, balancing intimate storytelling with expansive arrangements.
