The appropriately named Sunnyboys – the band that possibly did more to bring indie guitar music in a power pop guise into the mainstream in the eighties in Australia than other band – have announced an Australia wide tour. They will be supported by the venerable Even in Sydney and Melbourne while former Screaming Tribesman frontman Mick Medew will bring his Mesmerisers to Brisbane and Byron Bay.
This tour will surely be essential medication to salve the soul and move the feet.
Tour details are as follows:
Fri July 1 Factory Theatre, Sydney With Even
Sat July 9 The Corner, Melbourne With Even & Little Murders
Fri July 15 The Northern Byron Bay With Mick Medew & The Mesmerisers
Sat Jul 16 Princess Theatre, Brisbane With Mick Medew & The Mesmerisers
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday, 6 May 2022) through here.
Sunnboys have been through all sorts of challenges throughout their existence – a band that burned so very brightly but for too short a time, but who left, in the process, an indelible impression. Their self-titled album remains veritable classic (listen here). Witness the glory of ‘Alone With You’:
