Ahead of the imminent release of their third album North East Coastal Town on 19 August, LIFE return with ‘Duck Egg Blue‘, the fourth track to be taken from the album.

Duck Egg Blue‘ shows a calmer quieter side to the band as vocalist Mez Green’s boisterous and sardonic vocal style is swapped for tender, ruminative lyrics. Musically there is a meditative rhythm section, which ebbs and flows with subtle electronic elements around a gentle guitar loop.

Speaking on the new release Mez says:
“‘Duck Egg Blue’ is a realist’s love song. The journey of trying to navigate through each other’s feelings and emotions, the strains of close quarters trapped in a tiny flat, the minutiae of everyday life. The overarching sentiment is that no matter what happens, after all that is said and done, we love each other, and we are there for each other.”

The single is also accompanied by a new video which sees different colours of paint swirling and merging with each other. The visual is taken from bassist Lydia Palmeria and her girlfriend painting their bedroom. Speaking on it the band says:
“The video for ‘Duck Egg Blue’ is mix of paint and sentiment, of love and frustration, and the process of turning house into home.”

LIFE’s third album North East Coastal Town is set for release on 19 August.
