Mainland Break, the indie-rock sensation hailing from Colorado, is making waves once again with their latest bittersweet jangle-pop anthem, ‘Promises‘. The band has also thrilled fans by unveiling their upcoming Australian tour scheduled for this February.

An enchanting fusion of indie elements, ‘Promises’ features a dynamic bass line and intermittent jangly guitar riffs throughout. Vocalist Evan Oliver, with his classically post-punk voice, guides us through the aftermath of a relationship, accentuating the pursuit of positivity amid the chaos of a breakup. The song plays out like the perfect opening scene anthem for an indie movie, setting the mood for a contemplative, sun-soaked afternoon. “‘Promises’ is a breakup song that searches for hope in separation. The song narrates the difficult journey of deciding to end a relationship, from the initial realization to the actual conversation,” explains Oliver.

Recorded at Cowboy Cowabunga Recordings in Colorado by Mark Anderson, mixed by Joey Oaxaca, and mastered by Dave Cooley for Elysian Masters, ‘Promises’ boasts an impressive production lineup. Originally part of the recording sessions for their debut LP, ‘One Way Ticket To Midnight‘, and following its success in July 2023, the band decided that ‘Promises’ deserved its own spotlight due to its unique tone.

With anticipation mounting for Mainland Break’s Australian tour, the seamless fusion of post-punk and pub-rock encapsulated in ‘Promises’ harmonises effortlessly with the distinctive Australian indie sound. It’s clear they’ll be warmly embraced, perhaps even with a cold one, as they hit the stage at one of the eight venues scheduled for next month.

“A lot of our musical influences and idols come from Australia, and we’re thrilled to perform in the same communities that those bands are a part of. As a band from the heart of the US, aiming to capture a sunny, surfy, coastal sound, we wanted to celebrate our new release in a place that embodies those qualities. We look forward to performing, meeting people, and experiencing the rich tapestry of Australian culture,” shares Mainland Break.
