Mortez, the explosive duo made up of Brett Daniels and Rachele Royale, have returned with the new single ‘COVEN’.
Theatrical through layers of vocal harmonies, piano and cinematic strings, the track grows from opening to introducing the metal undertones in the pair’s sound with tight punching drums, and soaring heavily distorted guitar lines. ‘COVEN’ is a bold and dramatic addition to Mortez’s catalogue – a collision of dark romanticism and unflinching empowerment.
Discussing the track, Daniels and Royale shared:
“Coven illustrates the combative and tumultuous relationship we have with our inner demons. Verse one opens with a demand of our ego, inviting the monsters we fear to a fight. Knowing our internal light is inevitable, we are prepared to win. The chorus calls in the coven to chant in unison. The song suggests we are stronger together and we are not alone.”
It’s not just the music that makes Mortez stand out—their story reads like the origin of a mythic duo. Royale, a resilient performer who’s survived personal trauma, and Daniels, a once-troubled musician who clawed back from the edge, forged Mortez from the ashes of their individual struggles.
Together, they’ve built a sonic world that’s earning attention beyond the underground. With nods from MTV, CMT, Hulu, and SiriusXM, Mortez have already established themselves. Daniels brings decades of experience as a first-call guitarist in Hollywood’s elite circles, while Royale’s solo career, launched with a debut album produced by rock icon Mutt Lange, continues to influence the duo’s melodic edge.
