Showing no signs of slowing down, Dublin-based rapper Beano kicks off 2025 with the release of his latest EP, Trap #7. Produced by fellow Ireland-based contemporary No Venom, the project carries an authentic sense of creativity through inventive sampling, tasteful lo-fi production and Beano’s spotless flow.
Consisting of seven tracks, Trap #7 is a bold statement of intent, each song as compelling as the next. The EP nods to the golden era of ‘90s hip-hop while pushing forward with modern momentum, delivering emphatic breakbeats and magnetic toplines. Contributions from acclaimed contemporaries Verb T, Panda Drey, and Donkobz add further depth, reinforcing Beano’s ability to weave his sound seamlessly within the evolving hip-hop landscape.
Speaking on the project, Beano reflects on the organic nature of its creation, crediting his synergy with No Venom as a key factor in shaping the EP’s cohesive sound: “This is a project that came together very naturally. When I started working with No Venom, it was because he bought a feature from me. That led to him remixing two of my tracks, and before I knew it, I pivoted some songs I’d written for other beats to his production.”
Lyrically, Trap #7 is a personal, cathartic exploration, weaving together stories and reflections from Beano’s life. Tracks like ‘Toubkal’ were inspired by a trip to Morocco, written mid-flight as he reflected on his experience hiking the country’s highest peak. Meanwhile, the title track ‘Trap #7’ draws from childhood memories of watching ‘The Mighty Celt’ with his father—a film about greyhound racing that sparked his lifelong love for dogs. These influences extend beyond the lyrics, shaping the project’s striking cover art and visual aesthetic.
A rising star in Ireland’s hip-hop scene, Beano has already shared stages with the likes of Fliptrix and Verb T, performing at Electric Picnic, and selling out shows nationwide. Since his 2022 debut, his music has fused nostalgic hip-hop elements with a modern twist, carving out a distinctive voice in the genre.
