Siibii—Montreal-based Cree pop artist, survivor, and shapeshifter—has signed to Ishkōdé Records and released a devastating new single, ‘User,’ a track that arrives like a psychic shiver through the bloodstream. Anchored in trembling beats and breath-close vocals, ‘User’ is a story of rupture and reclamation, sung with the clarity only survival can offer.

The song, Siibii says, was born from their lived experience of grooming and the silences Indigenous communities are often forced to carry. “This song breaks that silence,” they state. ‘User’ doesn’t just tell the story—it namechecks the imbalance, drains its power, and leaves it exposed. With creeping menace and subaqueous tension, the track sets the tone for Siibii’s forthcoming debut album, due in 2025.
Raised in the remote Cree community of Mistissini, Quebec, Siibii draws strength from family lines and cultural roots—“Mama put a paintbrush in my hand and Gookum put a song in my heart,” they reflect. Their work flows like their namesake—Siibii, meaning “river”—carving paths of healing, confrontation, and emotional velocity. Their sound, while unmistakably pop, channels the spirit of outliers like Kimmortal and Remi Wolf, and the emotional precision of Billie Eilish or Lola Young.
Their breakout single ‘YOY’ captured millions with its anthem of internal chaos and self-accountability. Siibii has since toured festival stages, opened for Elisapie, and is set to perform at Toronto’s inaugural Departure Festival this May.
A queer, trans non-binary, Indigenous artist, Siibii’s upcoming debut promises to be a landmark moment, not just for Siibii, but for the future of inclusive pop music in Canada and beyond.
