News, Sonic Youth 180g vinyl reissues

USM are embarking on a re-issue programme of some of Sonic Youth’s key albums as part of its ‘Back to Black’ series, all to be available for the first time on 180g vinyl, and with high quality downloads.

First up, later this this month, (January 22nd) are ‘Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star’, ‘A Thousand Leaves’ and ‘NYC Ghosts and Flowers’; to be followed by ‘Murray Street’, ‘Rather Ripped’ and ‘Sonic Nurse’ on February 19th. Together these represent a interesting time in the band’s development as it’s members were also pursuing their increasingly diverse lives and interests outside the band; bringing these experiences into a series of releases which although currently available on vinyl were recorded at a time when that medium was less of a priority.

As a result these new pressings should provide Sonic Youth and vinyl fans with something that will enable them to listen to the albums afresh, go check them out at your friendly local record store.
