For the first time since 1993, Spin Doctors will return to Australia — and for the first time ever, to New Zealand — as they mark 35 years of their breakthrough debut Pocket Full of Kryptonite. The band will undertake an 11-date run across both countries in May 2026, revisiting the album that produced two of the 1990s’ most recognisable singles and helped define their early career.

Released in 1991, Pocket Full of Kryptonite became a global success, reaching #1 in both Australia and New Zealand and achieving Platinum status locally. Powered by “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” the band’s blend of funk-leaning alt-rock and loose, jam-influenced musicianship carried them from New York clubs to international stages, establishing them as one of the decade’s most identifiable acts.

The upcoming tour will see Pocket Full of Kryptonite performed in full, accompanied by deep cuts, later-era material and a handful of covers the band have incorporated into recent live sets. Chris Barron, who briefly lived in Australia as a child, says the return feels long overdue: “It’s been something like 30 years since we played Australia, and we’ve never played New Zealand. Way too long. I can’t wait to relive good memories, see old and new friends, and rock Pocket Full of Kryptonite.”

Drummer Aaron Comess echoes the sentiment, noting the album’s history in the region: “The record did very well down under, and we’re grateful for the support over all these years. We’ll be playing the album in its entirety, along with other songs of ours and even a few covers. It’s going to be a special tour for us.” Guitarist Eric Schenkman adds simply: “The band has never sounded better, and it has definitely been a minute.”

The tour begins in Fremantle before moving through Adelaide, Geelong, Melbourne, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Sydney, Townsville, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, closing with a final date in Auckland. It’s a rare chance to revisit a milestone album in full, presented by the lineup who shaped its sound and still carry its spirit on stage.
