Strung Out, the California punk-metal lifers have announced an Australian headline tour this September to mark 30 years of the landmark 1996 release, bringing one of melodic hardcore’s most beloved records back to local stages.
When Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues first landed, it packed 13 songs into just 32 minutes and barely wasted a second. From opener Firecracker to closer Wrong Side of the Tracks, the album fused breakneck skate-punk urgency with sharpened metal precision and choruses big enough to survive the chaos.
It quickly became a defining release for a generation raised on speed, sweat and the idea that melody should never come at the expense of aggression.
That balancing act has kept Strung Out standing while countless peers fell away. Across ten albums, endless road miles and festival appearances including Warped Tour, the band have built a reputation as one of punk rock’s most consistently ferocious live acts.
No nostalgia cosplay, no phoned-in victory laps, no padding between songs. Just volume, accuracy and velocity.
This September’s run will see Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues heavily featured across the set, alongside favourites from throughout the catalogue. For longtime fans, it is a chance to hear a formative record in full force again. For newer listeners, it is a reminder that some albums never really become historical objects. They stay alive every time they are played loud enough.
