News: System Of A Down Return To Australia With Faith No More For Huge 2027 Stadium Tour

For the first time in more than a decade, Australian fans will finally witness one of heavy music’s most anticipated returns. SYSTEM OF A DOWN have announced a long-awaited headline stadium tour for January and February 2027, with fellow alternative metal pioneers FAITH NO MORE joining them for what shapes as one of the year’s defining rock events.

The tour arrives fresh from SYSTEM OF A DOWN’s sold-out European and UK stadium run, which saw the band pack out enormous shows in Paris, London and Warsaw, underlining that their rare live appearances remain among the most sought-after tickets in rock. Their Australian run begins at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on January 22 before heading to Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on January 27 and concluding at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on February 1.

It is difficult to overstate SYSTEM OF A DOWN’s impact. Since exploding onto the scene in the late 1990s, Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan have redefined what heavy music could be, combining razor-sharp political commentary, progressive songwriting and explosive musicianship. Toxicity remains one of the genre’s most celebrated albums, while tracks such as Chop Suey!, Aerials, Toxicity and B.Y.O.B. continue to soundtrack generations of rock and metal fans. More than 42 million albums sold worldwide only tell part of the story. Their reputation has always been built on live performances that feel exhilaratingly unpredictable.

If that were not enough, the addition of FAITH NO MORE elevates the tour into something far greater than a standard co-headline package. Mike Patton and company helped redraw the boundaries between metal, funk, punk and alternative rock long before genre-blurring became commonplace, producing enduring classics including Epic, Midlife Crisis and Easy. Their influence can still be heard across modern heavy music, making this pairing feel less like nostalgia and more like a celebration of two bands whose fingerprints remain everywhere.

With two of the most uncompromising and influential bands of the past three decades sharing stadium stages across Australia, these shows are poised to become landmark events. For local fans who have waited years to see SYSTEM OF A DOWN return, this is likely to be one of 2027’s fastest-selling tours.
